A road trip to Sicily is a wonderful option if you want the freedom to explore picturesque villages, mountain passes, and hidden trattorias serving the freshest pasta imaginable. If you're planning a trip of at least two weeks, the drive is absolutely worth it. From the Netherlands, expect about two days of travel time, depending on your route and stops.

You have two main route options to reach southern Italy:


🚗 Via Germany & Switzerland – Travel through Germany into Switzerland, where you’ll pass through the Gotthard Tunnel or take the scenic San Bernardino Pass before entering Italy.

🚗 Via Belgium, Luxembourg & France – A beautiful route that takes you through France, into Switzerland, and onward into Italy.

A smaller, quieter airport that’s even closer to Dimora di Dante.

  • Typically reachable via a layover in Rome or Milan.

Sicily’s largest and busiest airport, offering many international connections. From the Netherlands and Belgium, you can fly with:

This route takes you through rolling hills, vineyards, and olive groves.
  1. From the airport, take SP701 toward Siracusa/Ragusa.
  2. Follow signs for Lentini-Carlentini and merge onto SS194.
  3. Continue on SS514 toward Ragusa and take the Comiso exit.
  4. Follow SP7 and then SP82—after 1.2 km, you’ll reach Dimora di Dante.

🚗 From Comiso Airport
(approx. 10 min drive)
A short and scenic ride through the Sicilian countryside.
  1. Exit the airport and turn right onto SP5.
  2. At the roundabout, go straight toward Licodia Eubea.
  3. Bear slightly right onto SP82.
  4. Follow the road for 2.2 km—Dimora di Dante will be on your right.
